The fog decends cutting light into dark Alone I am frozen to the sound of a creatures bark A low eerie baying, working on my mind nerves frayed to breaking point something skulks behind I turn in a panic yet actions turn to sloth as something big and looming slinks in the undergrowth A soft breathing echoes around the clearing I crawl back to my tent and hope its nothing that im fearing but the sighing breathing sound is nearing and soon it the only noise inside the woods im hearing shuffling ever closer it's shadow cast across my tent from whats left of the dying embers as the fires all but spent The thing stops and sniffs the air around my camp Its low growl makes my palms grow clamy, sweaty and damp Its sillouette grows larger, massive like the bulk of a bear suddenly im running, fear spurning me into the cool night air I collide with tree after tree, stumbling blindly The roar of the beast gaining behind me I crash further throught the foliage & my lungs start to burn I fear for my life as I take a risk and turn Theres no beast behind me i look set to be home free If only I had been looking I wouldnt have hit that tree Holding my head and crying out in pain The cry of a wounded animal works at my brain I have to shut up before I am found by that monster Predators follow cries for help It matters not if I were not another animal they will strike while im down I stop thinkin as the baying once again echoes around. Suddenly the bushes stir into life the creatures upon me, I reach for my knife Too late, too slow, too long to react I am thrown on my back by the massive impact Dazed and confused I feel hot air on my face, the creatures fedit breath making fear impossible to replace Sharp fangs sink almost gently into my skin And I feel little pain as the feeding begins
