The Famous Promotional '59 315 |
From 1959 until well into the 60's Rickenbacker used this short scale body (designated as a 315 by it's Serial Number 2V285) as their promotional sample for photographs. It appeared in a variety of guises. Ranging from a '59 310 in the Kim Sister's photo to a '68 320 in appearing in the '75 catalogue. (See pg 92 of the Smith book) |

Shown above are body and headstock closeups. Note the Kluson tuners and hex bushings. It has had late 50's style open backed grovers fitted in the past.
Shown left is the Serial number plate with the typical hand stamped digits.
Below is a small assortment of hardware that has been on 2v285. Love that tan Vox Python strap ! |

From the Rickenbacker Corporation Archives. This photo appeared in the '75 Catalogue. It is quite likely 2v285 with white pickguards, white truss rod cover, R Tailpiece and a temporarily fitted middle pickup. The 2 o'clock soundhole and hex tuner ferrules certainly make it an early model. |
