This tube was usually the one made for the US military. These have a lower gain than the 12AX7, but are totally compatible.The early versions are more sought after as they usually have extra support rods and an extra mica spacer on top of the plate structure ("Triple Mica"), as well as blackplates.The grey plate version of this tube is also very nice. |

This is another industrial type tube .You may find European versions of this tube as well..6681 is very well made and a great tube if you can find them. |
| 7025
This is another"industrial" version of the 12AX7.I have a VOX TONE LAB SE.( awesome guitar modeler by the way).I tried many a tube in this unit with different results.The unit sends its already modeled sounds through the tube to warm the sounds up.So the tube is really side chained if you will ,so the tube is behaving differently than it would in a normal amp situations.ANYWAYS.I ended up going with an RCA 7025.It seemed to be the more flat and full range of the tubes I tried.Any vintage version of this tube will be nice Im sure. |

This is the European version of the 12AX7.Telefunken, Amperex, Mullard, and Siemens are the most sought after. What can you say about these European tubes that hasn't already been said.Amazing tubes. |

This is an ultra-low noise version of the 12AX7.Extremely rare. |
| These tubes are the most sought after pre amp tubes .Common in most guitar amps and studio pre amps. Telefunken, Mullard, Amperex, and RCA are the best of the best for 12ax7s.Not to be overlooked,there are a few other great brands that still come at a good price.GE,SYLVANIA,TUNG-SOL and other USA brands that may be relabeled are all great choices.These vintage tubes are of superior sound and quality and put most of the new tubes in production these days to shame. |
