For more info: 414.220.4292 or artasiagallery.com In This Issue: New Tour Dates VF Documentary Debuts at Slamdance Festival Voted Milwaukee's "Best Local Filmmaker," Establishment Productions debuted a short documentary film about the Violent Femmes at this week's Sundance alternative - The Slamdance Film Festival. Filmed by New York native and current Milwaukee resident Howie Goldklang, the 'Acoustic Punk Rock Short Documentary' is entitled "The Violent Femmes in American Music." The film is one of many $99 specials debuted this week. Goldklang's 2004 entry to Slamdance is available as a download on his establishmentproductions.com site so maybe AM will be posted soon. From a blurb in Milwaukee's Journal Sentinel: The film is part of the festival's $99 Special program, in which filmmakers were given $99 and 99 days to make a film. Goldklang, a New York native, directed the film, and his wife, Carly Flynn, was the cinematographer. Goldklang said he was hoping to turn the short into a feature and would be shooting more footage at a performance of the band at a tsunami relief show at the Pabst Theater Feb. 4.
