"Two Rogues Cross Paths" Chapter 3
Just as Duo's fingertips were about to make contact with Rogue's forehead, she awoke and
grabbed his hand and sat up.
Duo turned bright red.
"Um..."
‘You... you shouldn't tou... touch me. Ah... Ah'm d-dangerous.'
"Nani?"
‘Wha... What?'
‘Oh... sorry... what?'
‘Huh?'
‘I... I said ‘what' in Japanese. Sorry." Duo bites his lip and turns redder.
‘Ah'm sorry... Ah... Ah didn't mean ta startle you.'
Rogue looked down and suddenly realized that she was still holding Duo's hand. Her color
started to match his.
‘Um... no. It was my fault. I... I'm the one who should be sorry.'
Duo looked down and made the same realization that Rogue just had. Rogue let go of her
iron-grip on Duo's fingers.
‘Sorry.'
There was a long uncomfortable silence as they both looked down and seemed to study the
sand.
Duo finally looked up to see her very red cheeks.
‘Umm... are you cold? You're all uncovered now."
Duo scoots a little closer and hands Rogue some covers. She can feel him shaking.
‘Ah thank you're the one who's cold, sugar. You're shakin' like a leaf.'
‘Well...' Duo grins nervously. They scoot a little closer, and she starts to shake too.
‘You ok?'
‘Mmmhhmm. Just cold.' Rogues teeth start to chatter.
‘No wonder, that shirt doesn't look very warm.' #Shut up, baka.#
Rogue looks over at Duo who is stargazing and trying not to look in her direction.
‘No, it's not really. It's warmer where I came from.'
‘It will come in handy tomorrow in the heat. Unless you can just disappear into nowhere the
same way you appeared.' #Damn. I didn't mean that the way it probably sounded.#
‘Ah... Ah don't thank so.'
‘How did you do that, anyway?'
‘Ah would rather not talk about it.'
‘Oh. Sorry.'
Rogue smiled at Duo and curled her fingers around his, blushing slightly.
Duo looked over at her in shock and suddenly realized that their lips were mere inches away
from each other. Duo closed his eyes.
