Duo starts to dance around demanding attention. When he doesn't receive any, he picks up a
comic book and holds a lighter under it.
plude: "Ok. Ok... Just, put down the hostage!"
"Two Rogues Cross Paths" Chapter 7
Duo places himself between Heero and Rogue.
"What are you doing, Duo?"
"It was an accident! Heero, your overreacting as usual!"
Rogue looks confused.
"She is a security breech. She knows too much."
"She isn't going to tell anyone. We know her secrets too."
"She's a liability."
"If you're going to shoot her, you'll have to shoot through me!"
Heero frowned inwardly as his face remained cold and masked.
"Duo..."
Duo clenched his teeth and shook his head.
An unknown emotion pierced through Heero as he stared Duo down, his nostrils flared and gun
cocked.
‘What's goin' on, y'all?'
‘He thinks you know too much. Don't worry. I won't let him hurt you.'
‘Look, this is all mah fault. Ah don't deserve your protection.'
‘......'
For once in his life, Duo couldn't seem to find the right words. He just stood his ground.
During their little conversation, Heero was considering his options, still not sure what he
was feeling. He finally lowered the gun.
"Have it your way, but if she proves to be a danger to our mission, I won't hesitate in
killing her."
"You mean like you did with Relena?"
Duo's voice was harsh and his normal smile was quite absent from his face, replaced with a
tight, angry line. The words pierced deep into Heero; deeper than anyone thought anything
could pierce Heero, especially Heero himself.
Heero wanted to scream, "You don't understand!" but instead, he just remained silent and
walked over to Wing.
"Get some sleep. We have a mission tomorrow."
Rogue looked quite confused.
‘What j-just happened?'
‘Don't worry about it. You're relatively safe now. Tell me, do you know how to fight
well?'
‘Well... If ah don't, ah'm a fast learner,' Rogue answered smiling and referring to her
powers.
Duo caught the reference.
‘Good. Cause you're going to need to if you come with me.'
Rogue considered her options. She could be trapped in the desert or go into some kind of
battle. It was obvious which one showed more promise for survival.
Rogue nodded her answer and retreated back under the blanket.
Duo considered his sleeping options and decided to stick Rogue behind the seat in Shinigami
while he slept in front. It was the best way to keep Heero from going back on his word.
Not, that he didn't trust Heero; he just didn't want to tempt him.
Duo thought of the boys deep beautiful blue, yet cold eyes as he drifted off to sleep.
