"Mood Rings" Chapter 4

Duo started to shiver, and Heero wrapped his arms around him to keep him warm, fearing that
he could be going into shock.
Upon becoming slightly warmer, Duo slightly cracked one eye open. The world was spinning,
and his head hurt bad. He thought amongst the pain, spinning, and cold he could make out
something warm wrapped around him. So, he snuggled closer into it.
Heero felt Duo snuggle closer to him.
"Duo... you need to wake up in case you're in shock. Duo..."
Heero tried to whisper, but the sound felt like hammering on Duo's brain.
"Nnnnnn......eeeee...."
"Duo?"
"S'that ya Heerrrro? Ma hed hurtz."
"It's your own fault, baka. I told you to hold back."
"Ya told ma a lot o things, but na wha ah want... Where are all d' bees comin' from? Dey
hurt."
"Nani? Bees? Duo, stay with me. I think you're going into shock."
"Heh. Whaz up doc?"
"Baka, even hurt you're annoying."
"Heh. Z'my job. I get paid... two dollars and fifteen cents.."
Duo's face displayed a glazed and forced grin. His eyes were still forced shut from the
concussion.
"Where d hell are we Hee-chan?"
"Nani?"
"Birds swim and fish walk."
"Duo, what's your name?"
"Two."
"Close enough. What's my name?"
"Who is the square root of 1."
"Baka."
"Oi Hee-ch-ero, whaz the meaning of life?"
"I... I don't know Duo. ...To complete the mission."
"No. Forty-two." With that, Duo slipped out of consciousness again.
"Duo, wake up. Duo?"
It was no use. Duo was out like a light.
A guard suddenly opened the door and aimed a gun at Heero. "Step away from the kid with the
braid."
"No."
"Look, he's no good to either of us if he's... Man, what the hell is up with your eyes?
Woah, that's f***ed up! Look demon-boy or whatever the hell you are, he needs medical
attention, now."
Heero reluctantly put Duo down and stepped back. Two guys in white came in with a stretcher
and placed Duo on it.
"It looks like you could use some medical attention yourself." The guard pointed to a deep
wound in Heero's left arm among many others.
Heero gave him his best death glare.
"Never mind."
The guard literally ran out of the room, leaving Heero to reflect over the battle. Heero
gritted his teeth as he thought back.

Heero flew Wing up to Shinigami and punched the self-destruct button for all it's worth.
Nothing happened.

The guards extracted Heero and Duo from their gundams forcibly. Duo was already out like a
light, but they were still smacking him around. Heero elbowed a guard, grabbed Duo, and
tried to escape with him, but was shot in the arm and beat. Both boys were literally thrown
in a cell.
