"Trapped" Chapter 4
"Shigeru, have you been crying?"
"What are you talking about?!"
"Your eyes are all red and puffy and..."
"I'm not some cry baby like you, Satoshi! It's just dusty in here!"
"Geese, you don't have to get so defensive! I was just..."
"You were just what, Satoshi?! Trying to interfere in my personal business!"
"Oh! So you were crying, and you called me...!"
Pikachu stood up between the two boys and held out her hands in attempt to subdue the
fight. "Pika!!!"
Both boys went silent, and an uncomfortable silence filled the small cave for a good five
minutes.
"S-Shigeru?" *hushed tone*
"Hai."
"Are we going to die in here? Because, if I die, I want you to get Pikachu out of here,
please."
Satoshi's tone sounded desperate.
"Don't talk like that, Satoshi. We'll be..."
"Give it to me straight Shigeru. Can you see any way out of here without causing another
cave-in."
Shigeru looked down.
"No."
"Do ya think there'll be another aftershock?"
"I-I don't know. You get some rest why I look around for any possible way out or food and
water source."
"N-no."
"Hn?"
"P-please, don't leave. I-I'm scared. I'm scared if I go to sleep again that I won't wake
up. Shigeru, my vision is getting more blurry."
Shigeru tucked away his concern.
"You just need some rest. I'm sure your concussion will be better when you reawaken."
"W-will you stay here, at least until I fall asleep, please."
Satoshi stared deep into Shigeru's eyes and Shigeru couldn't say no even if he wanted to.
"Hai."
Shigeru itched to kiss away a big fat tear rolling down Satoshi's dusty cheek.
"Shigeru?"
"Shh... get some sleep, Satoshi. You need it."
"Shigeru, why do you hate me?"
"...I-I don't hate you, Satoshi."
"Then why are you always making fun of me?"
"Get some sleep, Satoshi."
Satoshi couldn't will his eyes open any longer and fell into a deep sleep. Shigeru
palliated his urge to kiss away the tear by bringing up his index finger to gently wipe it
away. He then rose to his feet and began to look around. Pikachu stood watch over Satoshi.
Shigeru searched the small confines of the cave to find that he was back where he started
until he heard something just beyond a few boulders. It sounded like a boy about his age
yelling for help.
"Hello? Is there someone over there?"
"Hai. Do you know a way out of here?"
"No, do you?"
"No. Let me just move this boulder."
Shigeru saw the boulder in front of him start to move. Shigeru grabs a hold of it and
starts helping. The boulder finally moved to reveal...
