Books We Have Made

"It is not enough to have a good mind. The main thing is to use it well."
René Descartes

This is the first book we made after reading the story, "All I Am," about a little boy who told us all the things he was. We thought about all the things we were and put them in this book. We are helpers, neighbors, thinkers, artists, daydreamers and friends.

We read the traditional story about Miss Mary Mack all dressed in black. Then we broke up into 3 smaller groups and each group came up with their own version of the story. We had her dressed in brown, blue and white. Instead of asking her mother for 50 cents one Mary asked for 40 cents, another for $1.00 and the third one asked for $500!

"A Dark, Dark Tale" is about a dark, dark house with a lot of dark, dark things in it. In the end there is a dark, dark box and in it there is... Before finding out what was in the box we came up with our own ideas of what could be in it. If you really want to know go to the library and read "A Dark, Dark Tale" by Ruth Brown

In March we were tired of so much winter so we wrote a "Good-bye Winter, Hello Spring" book. In it we think of all the winter things we would gladly say good-bye to and all the spring things that we want to say hello to.

We also made a book about different ways to catch a leprechaun. We put some blank pages in the back of the book so that the parents could write and tell us how they would catch a leprechaun. We have some very clever parents!

After reading "Eating The Alphabet" we made our own book about fruits and vegetables that we like to eat.
