The Two

The two connect as they gaze into each others’ eyes,
Viewing each others’ soul, they quickly realize.
Unprepared for where the connection might lead,
Instilled, though, with happiness that rapidly takes seed.
Keeping each other at a distance soon becomes a chore,
Only wanting, at first, a little bit more.
Connecting, their hearts begin to entwine
Losing their defenses and all sense of time.
Outwardly they appear to be unchanged,
Entering their hearts, though, shows they’ll never be the same.
Reaching out to each other they strengthen a lasting bond,
Taking care of each other and tightly holding on.
Deciding that for them love was meant to be,
Though all the world cannot easily see,
Every time they are together love glazes their eyes,
Each one strips away the other’s disguise,
Sometimes love is just easily realized.
