Back to Violette's Corner
The Fairy
The fairy sits idly
in a sullen pose
unaware of the beauty
with which her body glows.
The ground about her feet
blossoms with new growth
as she sits and contemplates
her binding fairy oath.
Beauty for the world
is what she must provide
but never let her heart swell
with overpowering pride.
Humble she must be,
and nimble as a sprite,
working when eyes cannot see,
in the dead of night.
Protector of creation
and all its sacred life.
She flies through the night
relieving undue strife.
By day she hides
from prying human eyes,
too innocent for a world
filled with deceit and lies.
She waits for night
to reveal her powers
so now sits to rest
among the flowers.
