The Glass House
A house of glass sits abandoned
in it’s forest home,
while the world goes on unknowing
of this place where no one roams.
No stranger ever comes,
and the animals stay away
Afraid that they could hurt
the fragile house along their way.
But the house yearns for a boarder
to clean it’s weathered glass,
and carefully examines everyone
that come across its path.

It looks for a steady hand
to complete the daily chores
who will not scratch its windows
or break it’s fragile doors.
It searches for loving eyes
that will overlook it’s chipped halls,
for in a transparent house
a flaw can be seen by all.
It looks for a gentle soul
who will appreciate the wonder
of a house made of glass that
shivers in the thunder.
It looks for a strong protector
who will watch for throwers of stones,
and make sure that everyone
leaves the house alone.
The house only wants safety,
and someone to make it feel love,
but it’s search goes on in vain
until someone is sent from above.

Their hands remove the grime
that cakes the abandoned halls,
and seeing the many chips
they lovingly mend the walls.
Their gentle soul reveres
the fragile house of glass
and protects it from intruders
who throw stones as they pass.
So now the glass shines brightly,
and the house is made a home,
And no longer does it fear
those who come to roam.
