Back to Violette's Corner
The Note
Salty tears stream down her face,
falling from bleary eyes.
Other tears’ trails they do trace
as she sits at night and cries.
In one hand she holds her death,
her mind contemplates this fact,
and shakily she takes in a breath
before she commits her final act.
Hours later when she is found
they pry open her cold dead hand,
and no one dares to utter a sound
as on the floor a note does land.
A trembling hand picks up the note
and slowly they read what’s inside.
And over the room her soul does float
as they reveal what she tried to hide.
They read how her world was crumbling down
And she felt like she couldn’t last.
How no one to help her stayed around,
when they saw her they just walked past.
They learn how she felt so utterly alone,
lost in a world that didn’t care.
How no one paid heed to her moans
and never even noticed her there.
As they get to the end they begin to realize
that to her life was just a big chore.
And they read her last line through tear filled eyes,
“I just can’t live anymore.”
