This was only the second time I had ever ridden with anyone else, and the first I had ever been out with a relatively large number of people. Between Doug and I, we managed to round up a TL1000R, a YZF600, and four CBR600's, in addition to his TLR and my Daytona. As you can see from the photos above, we had the color spectrum pretty well covered between everyone's rides. Click on any one of the pics to see the full-size image. Our day's ride consisted mostly of broad, fast sweepers in the Frankenmuth and Vassar areas, as well as some deserted farm road dragstrip fun. As well as this being my first ride with a large group of bikes, this was also the day of my first ever crash on the street. I don't really feel like going into detail, but let's suffice it to say that it ended the day's fun in a big hurry. There really isn't much anything like sliding across the pavement at 35 mph, and watching your awesome, expensive-as-hell sportbike slide some fifty feet ahead of you. I was able to ride the bike about twenty five miles home, but the second I pulled into my driveway, it barfed almost all of its coolant out. Thus, my beautiful new Daytona was retired for a couple months. Here are a couple pics I took right after getting the bike home, and one of its dead body in the back of our van: |
