* * *  HOW DID THIS HAPPEN ?!?!  * * *

I'm 33 and still a virgin... *sigh*  Too many years wasted with being a "GOOD GIRL", I guess.

Well, I don't wanna be a virgin any more!  (Don't worry, I've got somebody in mind already...)

Of course it's more than mere virginity at issue here.  I want a boyfriend - a relationship - that would lead to sex.

BUT...here's the (additional) problem:  The guy I want just moved across the Atlantic Ocean!  (6025 km away, to be precise. That's about 3743 miles, my non-metric friends!)

* * * BREAKING NEWS!!! * * *

April, 2004
It's been over a year since I updated this site? I'm surprised they didn't take it down! Summary of the past year...

May, 2003 - The Guy was here to see his new g/f (somebody he had worked with before he moved). I met them for breakfast the day after he arrived (my birthday!) and didn't like her. By the end of the week it was over - and he was desperate for intelligent conversation. (Score one for me!)

July, 2003 - I took an impromptu trip to see The Guy - a chance opportunity for a dirt cheap ticket right as I was getting overtime pay/days off. The "jetsetter" lifestyle I always wanted! It was a great visit - much more relaxed than the first one - and I didn't have the same expectations either.

September, 2003 - The Guy was in Canada briefly for a family reunion and I tried to make a last-minute trip out to see him, but he told me he couldn't work it in as he was already totally booked for those few days. In my head, I knew that was logical, but it hurt. Big time. I was also going through a job transition - to one I knew I wouldn't like. In two words "Fall SUCKED!"

I had to finally admit to myself that there really, really was no romantic future with The Guy.

APRIL, 2003 - That family trip to England (see May, 2002) is now finally, finally happening! I've spoken to The Guy, and he will be coming to spend a few days with us. Although I know nothing will happen, it will still be an interesting/awkward time as he meets my mom and sister for the first time - not just meet, but stay with! I'm sure they suspect something, but what they suspect will not happen. Ah well - it'll be worth it to spend time with him anyhow.

* * * OLD(er) NEWS!!! * * *

February, 2003
(How lame is this? Oh well, I'm finally updating...4 months later.)
I just got an e-mail that The Guy is coming back in summer for a wedding! YAAAAAAHOOOOOO!

January:
We managed to miss each other on phone and e-mail before he flew back, but a January birthday provided a perfect excuse to phone a week later. Oh yeah, and before that he sent the reply to "The E-Mail" about his girlfriend...2 months later! *LOL* The time away from her had him thinking about their relationship again.

December: What an absolutely AMAZING visit! The Guy thought he might spend only one night at my place since he has so many friends in town. I totally understood. He ended up staying at my place SEVEN nights (the other night he spent with his ex. And no, he didn't get any!)! WOOHOO!

We had a wonderful, wonderful time together. I got to meet a lot of his friends from here, and made sure he met a bunch of mine. They all thought he was wonderful and funny. (That was great to know.) In fact - one friend described him as "very shaggable" *LOL* He left my place and went of to spend the rest of his time in Canada with his family. :(

November, 2002
November 1st he calls and tells me he's going to send an e-mail. The e-mail asks for advice about his relationship with the girlfriend. Two main themes - 1) he feels it's casual 2) he is having trouble making it more because of her unusual beliefs. Waiting to see what happens now. *fingers crossed*

AND... he's got his plane ticket back to Canada for December!!! Just waiting to see now how long he'll stay at my place. *Frantic cleaning begins!*

October, 2002
Spent the month wishing I was still in Europe - with The Guy. He developed pneumonia - I am SO glad it was AFTER my trip! (Selfish, but true.)

September, 2002
How to be brief?! I had a FANTASTIC trip to see The Guy from a vacation, friendship, relaxation perspective. It BIT on the relationship side. Yup, The Guy has a girlfriend. I'd like to hate her, but she's really nice. The Guy talked about how he doesn't think their relationship will last since their personalities are very different.

What the trip DID do, was really develop our odd way of knowing each other into a really really good friendship. He is a wonderful, funny, creative, funny, warm, funny, intelligent, wickedly funny guy and we had a million laughs and many serious discussions.

August 24th, 2002
Hmmm...turns out his ex-girlfriend was visiting when I called that time. He confessed this week after she left that he's "totally in love" with her. She's moving to the US - with her boyfriend!!!
On the up-side, he promised to take pictures at the music festival he's at this weekend - even though he hates taking pictures. He told me how important I was, since he was ready to change his habits...hmm, that works for me!
THREE & A HALF WEEKS LEFT!!!

August 6th, 2002
Picked up my PASSPORT last week. So - have ticket, passport & luggage - nothing will stop me now! I phoned TGIL this afternoon, as I just wanted/needed to hear his laugh. Told him that, too.

July 26th, 2002
I can't believe it's been 5 weeks since I posted! MUCH intervening stress (job change July 15th and questions about being able to take holidays until 6:00 Wed night) and nail-biting waiting for replies from TGIL. I've spoken to him a few times on the phone - 1/2 hour last weekend "just because" - no agenda. Very, very cool.
BEST NEWS: I PICKED UP MY PLANE TICKET YESTERDAY!!!!
I called him to let him know - and right after saying how great that was, he said now he'd go and book his vacation days! Then he said he'd pick me up at the airport (I'd planned on taking the 1.5 hr train, but he said "No, no, no!")
Seven weeks.
I AM SOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!

June 20th, 2002
Wow, have things changed in the past few days! After months of trying to figure out when to go to Europe with the family, we put off the trip to next Spring. BUT - I'm going to go to visit TGIL this Fall ANYWAY!!! I phoned him yesterday (first time since he moved) and he's excited about it, too.
Soooo...this means about 10 days with him instead of three. That'll make it so much easier to gauge the level of relationship we have - not trying to figure it out in 72 hours! And if it turns out it's just friends - he's still a great guy.

May 31st, 2002
I mailed TGIL a card yesterday, my first NON-email letter! It took a while, but I made the scary decision to throw a heart on it (not a sappy, bubble kinda heart). I guess I'll know how he reacts in a few weeks. *S*
Does this sound hopeful? I think it does. He wrote this today: "You are way too sweet sister...It's a gift having a friend like you...even though you are far away!" Let me know in my guestbook!!

May 25th, 2002
HE WANTS TO VISIT!!! I am SOOOOOO happy!!! TGIL wrote a great long e-mail about what he's up to, and he wants to hook up in Europe! I got the e-mail yesterday - and my birthday's today.
This is the BESTBESTBEST birthday present EVER!!!

May 20th, 2002
I'm still waiting for a reply. *sigh* He's been away leading some training sessions, so I've just been trying not to think about it. Suggestions on how to bring it up again and let him know I really need an answer???

May 12th, 2002
I was already planning a trip to London in fall. I've now sent an e-mail asking TGIL (The Guy I Like) if he'd like to meet up over there. *crossing my fingers* So, now I have sit here and wait for him to get back to the office to reply. *jittery, but excited*
Got any advice for me? Sign my guest book! THANK YOU!!!

(BTW:  The image above is Bernini's "Ecstasy of St. Teresa" from St. Peter's.  Teresa was a 16th century Spanish nun who was visited by an angel who pierced her with the love of God, sending her into extreme sexual ecstasy.  Of course, being a nun and all, she had to die.  But I'm not a nun or even Catholic, so I'm guessing I'll be saved that fate!)
I've got the best friends and family ever!  I've got good friends that live in town, but so many have had to move to other cities, provinces, countries...and just a month ago - another continent!!!  (See above, *sigh*)
