Leadership Checklist
The following list is intended to give
a brief outline of some
talents, gifts, and abilities which can assist in preparing someone
for a leadership position. It does not necessarily contain all of the
things that the Lord may want to use for His service, but it is given
as a guideline for balanced Christian growth and development in
this area.
Note which of the following points exist
now in your life, and
which of them you need some assistance with. Use the list to
help evaluate your own gifts and abilities.
Vision and insight, the ability to see ahead and
develop
workable objectives and goals
Confidence in what God can do for you, and what
you can
do with His help
Inspiration to be able to see your calling by
the Lord; and
by faith to grasp its glorious promises of final salvation for
many souls when Jesus comes
Respect for yourself and others
Willingness to accept and carry responsibility;
and take
necessary risks
Faith to see potential for progress
Endurance
Patience with others, and yourself
Consecration to the Lord, His work, and His truth
Encouragement
Love for God, His work, and people from all walks
of life
Gentleness in dealing with the needs and problems
of others
Self control: to restrain yourself when under
great stress
To be accountable to take responsibility for decisions
you
make, and the results that may come; and to deal with them to
the best of your ability with God's help
Creativeness to plan and put forth thoughts and
ideas that
will help toward the development and growth of God's work
A spirit and passion for excellence in all that
is done
Openness of mind
Initiative in not just waiting for things to happen;
but to work
to make things happen
Willingness to learn new ways of thinking and
accomplishing things
The ability to motivate and encourage others to
enter into
new fields, actions and levels, for needed change and progress
The ability to keep things simple, and as uncomplicated
as possible
Common sense, and the ability to reason from cause
to effect
To be flexible without being inconsistent;
to be firm without becoming dictatorial
The ability to keep people working together
in spite of their problems and diversity
The ability to utilize your strength, and with
God's help,
overcome weaknesses found in yourself and others
The ability to be assertive without becoming aggressive
To possess a healthy enthusiasm for all you undertake
Practice good communication skills
Have high moral and ethical Christian standards
and principles
The ability to make decisions, negotiate through
difficulties,
and work toward the solution of problems
