With gentle steps, the dainty woman moved through the rows of plants in her cousin's backyard. One tiny amber skinned hand moves out to cup a particular plant's leaf, deciding about something regarding it's use. The fine veil of black tresses shields the smooth perfection of her face from any onlooker gazing at her in the direction of the tavern. Soft mocha orbs study thoughtfully the color and texture of the plant, determining the time to harvest. Lips the shade of cherries pursed thoughtfully as the time was calculated. The simple cobalt blue cheongsam gown graced her willowy form, revealing her soft womanly attributes by molding her outline for the silken gown fell to those amber knees. The cheongsam sported it's traditional high neckline with the golden trim and bottons on her right side, moderate sized slits on both sides of the silken gown, nothing outrageous for her. Her cousin Taimao's voice drifts from the tavern to her ears, causing her smile to soften replying in those soft serene tones:: Alright Taimao, I am coming my cousin ::quickening her pace, her soft blue sandles leave tiny tracks in the soil as she hurries respectably to her cousin's bidding |

Ruikuan was born into a simple Chinese family, the only living daughter of the Fan House until her mother Vona went into labor for the newest addition but the ancestor's did not give the woman their blessings and took Vona and the inborn child both in childbirth fever, killing both. For the two years after Vona and the infant's death, things tried to go back to normal, with Ruikuan taking her mother's place of taking care of the household. Though she was heartbroken as was her father. That state her father was in allowed him to easily catch and succlumb to an illness and grow worse. Ruikuan tried every thing she could to bring her father back to her former state, but he had lost every ounce of will to live. At least her father thought about her welfare since he could not find a suitable husband for her, with her only being fourteen years old. He having no family other than his wifes. With the last bit of his strength he sent a missive to his wife's brother's only surviving son (Ruikuan's cousin..get it) Taimao Gao. On his death bed, Ruikuan's father made preparations for her to be delivered to Taimao's tavern after his death. With a heavy heart after her father's passing she was the dutiful daughter and went to live with her cousin. There she did the same for her father, being the dutiful chinese woman she was taught to be, Ruikuan makes sure that Taimao has food on his table, his place clean and his medicinal herbs were well taken care of till the time that he has found her a suitable husband for her. She is thankful for the two or three years that she stayed with him, for now she is seventeen, but that does not much matter to her. Now they have another joining their little family, a distant cousin that is wild and free. Perhaps Ruikuan can place the influence of the wild girl Kohei Tanaka, and set her on the correct path of a dutiful and repectable maiden a Chinese woman should be Mortal Index |
