Murrieta -
Nature lovers throughout Southern California know all about the hidden gem that
is the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, a stunning vista of coastal sage
scrub, ancient oaks and vernal pools that lies on the southern tip of the Santa
Rosa Mountains above the rapidly growing Murrieta Valley.
Located
about 40 miles north of Escondido, the plateau is about a 20-minute drive from
Interstate l5 heading west on Clinton Keith Drive. But it's a world away from
the traffic and strip malls beginning to crowd the Temecula and Murrieta
communities along the freeway.
