China inland(domestic)  popular music scene of the new century showed determined and advancing signs in the still murky and chaotic music industry. Rock and roll music has walked through a rough road and hasmfinally reached the big screen. Many types of music trend also emerged, like popular punk, Heavy metal craze, Heavy metal talk and scream, electronics.... recently we heard another new genere-- Visual Rock. What is Visual Rock? Does China have Visual Rock?

    At the end of the seventies, in EuroAmerica appeared Glam Rock such as Davidobowie. Glam rock brings visual omponents into rock and roll, using glamourous appearence and live performance as their hallmark. In the early 80s, the one and only X music band was born in Japan. They inevitabaly adopted EuroAmerica's Heavy Metal style of the 80s, at the same time
borrowing from EuroAmerica's rock and roll's heavy makeup along with Japanese culture elements and developed into a unique style-- thus "Visual Kei" (visual world) was born. After that, Visual Kei have developed strongly in Japan, besides the fact that it has become more varied, The unique ness of the style and model setting visual effects becomes a bright spot in
Japanese music scene, brought a great big shock wave through the Japanese Rock and roll music scene, bringing countless fan's adoration. LunaSea, Malice Mizer, Dir En Grey.... the ever emerging new visual rock groups not only reached great heights in terms of their music talents, they also mix their own personality into their style and visual appearence, showed a
deeper level of thinking that surpasses the realm of music. This ensured an unshakable place for visual rock in Japanese music scene. At the same time in early 80s, EuroAmerica diverted the visual element of Glam rock into another direction, developed into the strange and even fearful and disgustin g appearence. The groups that developed from this trend such as Kiss, Alice
Cooper, Marilyn Manson, Slip know and others represented the visual rock and roll, or called XiuKe(I have no clue what this is in english) rock and roll.

    But there is a difference between Visual Kei and Visuarl Rock and roll, the branch developed in Japan is called Visual Kei, beauty is the main theme, represented as very gorgeous, or can be described as very cool, very distincticeve, a lot of characters from manga(japanese comic) and video games and Visual kei take designs from each other. Today, 20 years after the
birth of Visual Kei, Visual Kei is no longer a patent of Japanese music fans, the tornado of Visual Kei has blown to inland China, blown throughout the whole south east asia, at the same time has a distinctive impact on Europe and  North Americans.

    For Chinese music fans, just looking up to Japanes visual bands is not enought, mearing looking is far from being satisfied. A while ago in China appeared several band waving the visual kei banner, but the dissapointing fact is that their acutal thinking is far from that of actual Visual Kei. Under the fact that there has never been a Visual band in China, lacking the know-hows of how to make a visual band function, could there be a true Visual band? Just as the music fans are waiting to the point of
dissapointment, a band called Silver Ash stood in front of the music fans. Totaly lacking in resources, this young band worked hard, carefuly applying makeups, unique costume designs, showed Silver Ash to have a dark, sad yet beautiful aurora and glamourous coquettish gorgeousnes. Perhaps because their appearence are too dazzaling, the brighness covered the musical
talent. Silver Ash's five different members's different music style mixed in the band's music, forming the band's heavy metla sond. No matter if it is madness and aggressions in their fast songs, or the ease of acceptence and deep meanings of their ballads, their music found a kind of balance in both to representing their thinkings and what the puplic could accept. At the
same time, like their appearences, it is not hard to feel the hidden sad yet beautiful intrinsic properties of Silver Ash's music. Turning from nothing into a reality in such a short amount of time, Silver Ash's appearence could be called a miracle.

    Even thougth the group has only attended a few small performances up to now, but listening to the screems from the fans below the stage everytime they perform on stage is enought to know that they have conqured a lot of music fan's heart. As China's first Visual Kei group, they are surely to bring a madness in China's rock and roll music scene.
