FYI:

Well, what can I say?  I’ve moved from being a piano/theory teacher in Vancouver to being a teacher of all subjects in the arctic.  Since August of 2003, I’ve relocated to Inuvik, NT, a community of approximately 3500 people.  Situated along the east channel of the Mackenzie, this town north of the Arctic Circle has its rustic charms….

I’ve survived the arctic winter!  Three snow-days, numerous stretches of minus-40 weather, weeks of darkness – yes, I’ve lived it all.  Cut to June, when the flowers along the roadside seem to bloom overnight, when the last of the snow disappears, when the mosquitoes host their annual feast….  It’s the land of the midnight sun, the 11 pm dash for a slurpee, and the 1 am urge to order Chinese food.

This year has been a soap-opera of sorts.  The high school’s foyer roof collapsed in early May, sending the entire staff into a frenzy.  Then there’s the school gym fire a couple of weeks later, and the miraculous end-of-the-school-year recovery.

July and August 2004 are my months of endless relaxation (i.e. time to update this website).  Back in Vancouver, amongst family and friends, back in the bustle of city-life and lattes galore.
