In August 1998 I went to my first seminar. It started then - I have became addicted to youth activities. In the beggining I mostly try to attend different seminars and trainings. Then became time when I started to represent others and express youth opinion on different levels. I get involved in National Youth Council of Latvia (LJP). Then it was time to help others to get knowledge and skills I have - I organised youth leadership training. Now I have a break in these activities. But I will return. I have plans. I just enjoy helping young people practice their lifeskills and gain new knowledge. Their personal development makes me happy. |
Organisations I have worked with: |
Youth Against AIDS - www.jpa-aids.lv - member 1998-99 Youth Group of Latvia's Association For Family Planning and Sexual Health "PAPARDES ZIEDS" www.papardeszieds.lv member 1998-2001. Thanks to them I have been trained as peer educator on sexual health as well as NGO consultant. As result of this training I helped Youth Group to make a short documental film "Youth in Ferns" were they speak about sexual relationship - features and drawbacks, how it is in real life. It wotth to see and think about it before doing something. Special thanks to director and camerman - Valdis Vanags as well as everyone on and behind the screen. :-) Latvian Red Cross Youth www.redcross.lv I became in contact with them already in 1999 as just few organisations work in HIV/AIDS and even less youth organisations. I am member since 2002. I am member of working group on HIV/AIDS prevention and drugs demand reduction.Due to strong contacts with International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies HQ in Geneva (IFRC - www.ifrc.org) as well as with ERNA - European Network of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on HIV/AIDS I haven't left activities at LRCY as large Latvian Red Cross doesn't have separate programme on HIV/AIDS as only youth department. National Youth Council of Latvia (LJP) www.ljp.lv Organisation were I have learn a lot and hope have made an input in it as well. :-) From 1999 till 2002 I have participated in its organized youth trainings. I represented LJP at European Youth Forum and Baltic Youth Forum regular meetings as well as other activities including consultation process on EU White Paper on Youth Policy. In Spring 2002 I have organised youth leadership training thanks to the Netherlands and Swedish support. Thanks to trainers performance afterwards participants evaluated it as the best LJP seminar in 2002. On 2001 - 2002 I was also on the Board of LJP. Now even I am not anymore a "youth" I looking forward to make new activities with LJP. Gay, Lesbian Youth Support Group Latvia www.gljag.gay.lv As I told I am not sure I should present myself anymore as a youth but this is a group were I am proud to be accepted as a resource person. I hope that one day that will become a strong organisation that will do a lot to support homo-, bi-, trans-sexual youth and stand for their rights. |
Other organisations worth to mention: International Young NatureFriends (IYNF) - www.iynf.org International Gay and Lesbian Youth Organisation (IGLYO) - www.iglyo.net Mobility International Thanks to these three organisations for my first seminar. Afterwards I went other one IYNF seminar. |
