Alexis in Mexico 2003
Alexis was met in Mexico City by her Dad, CJ and Reagan.  It was her first visit there since
1988 and there was so much to do and see.

There are two large open air art markets
each weekend.  This is in San Angel.

No, we didn't go to London too.  CJ, Alexis, and Reagan in Mexico City's super subway.

The architecture in Mexico City can make
you feel you are in Europe.  The Historic
Center of the city has been cleaned
and is a pleasure to visit.

Two blocks from our hotel is the Cathedral.
Nearby they have unearthed the Aztecs'
Grand  pyramid.

This is the National Palace, located across
from the Cathedral.

We ate breakfast at Sanborn's House of Tiles,
a Mexico City landmark for centuries.

The Post Office has been beautifully
renovated.

It is typical of many gracious old
buildings in the city.

Alexis was delighted to discover that the Paseo
de Reforma is lined with cactus sculptures.

With all the walking we did, we could afford a
break here but we only looked at the delights.

The National Anthropological Museum
entrance is most striking.

The main salon of the museum, which is
considered by many to be the best in the world,
features the Aztec calendar and
incredible statues.

This fine bust is only one of hundreds
on exhibit.

Ever wonder what an Aztec market day looked
like?  You can see it in the museum.

This is the Oaxaca salon, featuring a
painting of the pyramids at Monte
Alban.

One of the busts from the Oaxacan exhibit.

A magnificent sculpture from the Oaxacan salon.

You could believe you were in the jungle
rather than on the museum grounds when you
visited this temple.

This is a reproduction of the paintings
found inside the temple.

This towering sculpture also looks as if
it is in the jungle.

This reconstruction of a tomb contains
the actual bones and treasures.

The facade from a Mayan temple.

From here we went to Oaxaca.  Click here to continue the tour.
