Michael and Kyle were walking calmly when they saw something very disturbing
at the documentary section. In the corner were Liz and Max making out.

“What do you think you’re doing to my sister?” Michael asked as he whirled
him around by his shoulders.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Kyle roared.

“We can explain.” Liz said wiping her mouth quickly.

“You better.” Michael said holding Max by his throat against the wall of
movies.

“Put him down!” Liz and Kyle yelled at the same time.

“Not until he tells me what he thought he was doing.” Michael said evenly
his face betraying his feelings. He turned an interesting deep red blood
color.

“He was kissing me.” Liz said as she grabbed her brother’s wrist gently.

“Why?” Michael asked not releasing Max.

“Because.” Liz said as she gathered her strength and pulled Michael’s hands
away. She got it an inch away before he noticed she was using her powers. He
began to use his but before his fingers could touch Max there was a green
force field between Michael’s hand and Max.

“Leave him alone. I was the one that started to kiss him.” Liz said putting
the force field down and standing in between her brother and her soul mate.

“This is great.” Kyle said sarcastically.

“Thanks for helping Kyle. I mean you know if some guy had you by the throat
against the wall I would just stand there like a dumb jock too.” Max said
reaching for his brother.

Liz grabbed his hands and intertwined their fingers bring them down to their
sides.

“Michael, did I jump you when you kissed a complete stranger?” Liz asked.

“But…” Michael started to protest.

“Did I make a big fuss when you wouldn’t tell me what happened and when you
basically lied to me?” Liz asked with an evil smile on her face.

“You don’t even know this guy.” Michael said ignoring what she had said. He
knew from experience that this was going to be a very long conversation.

Tess panicked, why couldn’t she reach out to her family? Who was blocking
her? Could her family even feel her? Why couldn’t she feel them?

Maria looked over to Tess as the guys shoved her into the back seat on one
side and Tess on the other.

Maria instantly tried to make a break for it when he stepped away from the
car door but not even her powers could blast through the force field that
she found to encircle the entire back seat.

Maria scooted over towards Tess she was about to start talking when the guys
finally got in the front seat and addressed them.

“Hello ladies. As you have probably figured out there is a force field
around you. Don’t try to break it because you can’t. Don’t try to yell
either, no one can hear you. Except for each other of course. You can hear
us but we can’t hear you, and don’t try any funny business. You can’t use
your powers in here. They’re completely void inside the force field. You
can’t reach your otherworldly friends either. Have a nice trip.” The man on
the passenger seat said with a now evil smile instead of a drunken one.

Maria watched him turn around and right behind his jaw there was a piece of
skin coming off. She really started to freak when he pulled it off and it
didn’t phase him or his face.

“Did you see that?” Maria asked grabbing Tess’ hand.

“Oh my God.” Tess said in a squeaky voice.

“What are they?” Maria asked curiously.

“Dangerous.” Tess said quietly.

“Where’s Maria and Tess we can’t find them any where.” Isabel said walking
up to where Michael and Liz were arguing.

“Maybe they’re in the bathroom.” Kyle said as Liz and Michael put their
argument to rest.

“Checked. They are no where in this store.” Isabel said exasperated. What
else could go wrong?

“Did you ask the clerk?” Liz asked Isabel and Alex.

Alex turned on his heel and walked over to the counter, “Have you seen two
blonde girls about this tall,” Alex said leveling the air with his hands,
“One has blue eyes the other green?”

“There are a lot of Blue eyed blonde’s that come in here.” The guy said
sarcastically.

“Listen buddy…” Michael began but was cut off by Isabel’s sugary sweet tone.

“The were wearing a leather skirt and leather pants. The one with the
leather mini skirt also had on a green top that is about up to here,” Isabel
said placing a had mid-rib cage, “and the other had leather pants with a
short purple top like hers.” Isabel said as she pointed to Liz who was
walking up with the others Max right behind her.

“Yeah, they left with two guys.” The clerk said still smiling flirtatiously
at Isabel.

“What did the guys look like? When?” Alex asked putting an arm around
Isabel’s waist and pulling her closer.

“Mid twenties. Both had brown hair about your height maybe taller. They left
about five six minutes ago.” He said his smile fading.

The other six didn’t say a word as they ran out of the store and into the
parking lot.

Something caught Michael’s eye in an empty parking space beside the jeep; he
walked over to it and picked it. Right before it disintegrated he received
flashes.

“What happened what’d you see?” Isabel asked as Alex and she helped him to
the jeep where the others were already seated.

“The two guys that took them aren’t human.” Michael said sitting down in the
back seat beside Kyle.

“What they’re like us?” Kyle asked instantly.

“No. They’re different. What ever that was I picked up was from them. It’s
like they shed it or something.” Michael said trying to remember all the
flashes that had blasted his brain at an alarming pace.

“What are we going to do?” Liz asked her bottom lip quivering.

Max reached out and brought her into an embrace molding her to his chest,
“We’re going to find them.”

“Is that all you saw?” Alex asked.

“No they’re heading south, that way.” Michael said as he recognized the
‘285’ sign.

“OK then let’s go.” Kyle said to his brother motioning for him to start the
car and chase him down.

“We will but while we’re gone we need a plan. We can’t just go tracking them
down with no cover.” Max said sternly.

“I have an idea, we can warp our parents to think that we’re home and then
the rest of us can actually go after them.” Isabel said.

“One problem. Tess is the only one that can warp.” Liz said her hope
diminishing even more.

“No she’s not.” Kyle said quietly, “I guess we share more then just a
heritage.”

“Isabel, find a ride go home. Warp them all night; make sure no one see that
we’re not actually there. If we’re not back by tomorrow make up some excuse
that your going to the movies and hang out of sight OK?” Michael instructed
as she jumped out of the jeep Kyle right behind her.

“OK, good luck, and bring them back.” She said reaching over to grab his
hand for a moment then Liz’s.

“I’m staying. I can’t help you maybe I can do something to help here.” Alex
said as he patted Michael on the shoulder and then smiled at Liz.

He jumped out of the jeep just as Max started it. He gave them his patented
‘two thumbs up’ as the roared out of sight.
*
“What are we going to do? How are we going to get out of here? How are the
others going to find us? Are the others going to find us? Are those two
going to kill us? What are they? How do they know what we are? Should we
deny what we are? Should we try to break out? Are they telling us the
truth?” Maria asked non-stop.

Tess looked over at her concerned she had been doing that since they had
been captured.

“It’ll be OK. They’ll find us.” Tess said squeezing their interlocked hands

“I hope.” She added under her breath.

“You hope?” She asked panicking even more.
*
“We’ve been on the road forever and I can’t feel them. I can’t tell whether
or not we’re getting any closer.” Liz said exasperated.

Max looked over at her sympathetically; he knew how she was feeling. His
sister was missing too. He squeezed her small delicate hand a little tighter
in his strong hands trying reassuring them both.

“There’s something blocking them… someone actually. I can’t get through.
There’s this force field around them almost.” Michael said frustrated.

“Are you sure this is the direction that they were going in?” Max asked
Michael.

“Positive. They have a fifteen minute head start on us at the least.”
Michael said trying to connect to Maria again.

He snapped his eyes open, “Liz maybe we should combine our powers and then
release them at the force field.”

“You think that can work?” She asked skeptically but hopeful.

“Like I ever have a clue.” He said grabbing her hand’s once Max released
them.

Once they connected they focused their joined powers on an imaginary field
around the two girls. They sent everything they had at it but nothing would
do.

Then they noticed they were actually seeing the girls. It wasn’t a figment
of their imagination either. They had unconsciously found the exact
coordinates of the car.

Liz’s eyes snapped open and she looked at her brother then to Max, “They’re
exactly 20 miles ahead of us. Take a left in four miles.” She said
separating her hands from her brother’s.

“Night kids.” Mrs. Parker said walking into her daughter’s room to check on
the eight teenagers that had entered the room as soon as they came home.

“Night mom.” Liz, Tess, and Michael’s warp said warmly.

“Night Mrs. Parker.” Max, Kyle, and Maria’s warps said.

“Night.” Isabel and Alex said for real making it a little easier on Kyle.

Once Nancy had left to venture to her room the warp disappeared again.

“Are you OK?” Isabel asked looking him over for any damage.

“I’m fine. I’m tired but I’m fine.” Kyle said lying down on Tess’ bed.

“Can you connect with Michael or Liz to find out what’s happening?” Alex
asked interested.

“Yeah, get me that picture.” Isabel said pointing to a picture of Liz,
Michael, Tess, and herself.

Alex went for it wordlessly and handed it to her.

She closed her fingers around in and almost instantly she could see inside
Michael’s head. Almost as soon as she was inside she came out.

“They’re getting closer. They found where they’re taking them.” Isabel said
hope invading her body and voice.

“Finally. They’ve been gone for almost four hours.” Alex said a wide smile
playing at his lips.

“Before we start the fire works we need to remember they still have to get
them away from what ever has them.” Kyle said breaking the mood of happiness
that had almost settled over Alex and Isabel.

“Maybe we should try and find out every thing we can about who has them so
we might be able to give them information that could help them.” Alex said
trying to come up with something that could get his almost sister out of
harms way along with Maria.

“Do you remember anything from our home?” Isabel asked looking over at Kyle
expectantly.

“Bits and pieces. Strange names and fancy parties, you?” He asked looking
over at her.

“Same, but I do remember this giant metal cone thing. I don’t know what it
is or what it’s used for. I only know what it looks like.

“Hold on, fancy parties? What kind of fancy party would a six-year-old go
to? When I was six the fanciest party I had ever been to was at Chuckie
Cheese.” Alex said confused.

“I don’t know what kind of a party it was, but I know there were more than
one. It was really fancy like something out of king author’s court fancy.”
Kyle said propping himself up on his elbow, “Do you remember where the pods
are? Maybe there’s something there.”

“There’s nothing. We’ve been out there a lot and we haven’t found anything.”
Isabel said sorry to dash his hope.

“So we just get to sit and wait?” Alex asked grimly.

“Basically.” Isabel said walking over to where Alex was laying on Liz’s bed
and lying down beside him.

Alex wrapped an arm around her hugging her to him. It was going to be a very
long sleepless night.

“Where are we?” Liz asked as Max pulled up to a dome like house.

“Where we’re supposed to be.” Michael said as he jumped out of the jeep and
ran over to the door, Max and Liz in tow.
