Lirond Mushari
Name:
Lirond Mushari

Where he lives:
Lirond has lived everywhere, from the Great South Desert, to the Coastal Hills and everywhere in between. Currently, he lives in Corus, in a small room he's renting, a few blocks from the Inn.

Place of Birth:
The Great Southern Desert, about twenty miles east of Port Legann.

Age, Date of Birth:
23; February 29, 440

Occupation:
Lir is a thief, ever since childhood. However, his cover is that he's a "hangy-man", both working the noose, and disposing of the bodies. He often wishes he had thought of a better job, as that particular line of work isn't exactly flattering. It is, however, convenient. He got the idea from a conversation with [the pirate, by Tash. Don't remember his name.]

Status:
Just a commoner.

Magic:
He's turtle-hearted. He found one by the side of the road, when he lived in Port Legann, and found out that he loved it! Soon after that, he saved a baby boxer turtle from being eaten by a raccoon, and still has it to this day.

Family:
His uncle: Darh (tribe shaman), his father: Tempore, his mother: E'Dani, and his little sister: Lia, who left to join the shang when he was ten, and she was five.

Appearance:
Straight, dark brown hair, usually just looks like a messy tangle on his head. Dark brown eyes, medium black lashes. Tattoo of a turtle on his shoulder. Tan skin, a strong nose, and slightly wide, sticky-outy ears, one of which is slightly pointy. (His ears have made him the butt of countless jokes, most ((but not all)) of which he takes in good stride) Medium build, not exceptionally strong, tall or fast, but he can be charming. He also has a slight bit of fuzz over his top lip; not quite enough for a real moustache, but a little bit. Kind of cute.

Clothing:
Depends on the occasion. Most of the time, he's wearing long trousers, a loose shirt (good for keeping a knife or two in), and a choker necklace with his tribe's symbol set in onyx on the end. Most of the time, he wears flexible, soft leather shoes, but sometimes, he goes barefoot, which is easier for him, due to the callouses on the bottoms of his feet, which he got on the farm. Since there was no heavy machinery to fall on feet back then, he loved to go barefoot. He also always has his xylophone in a pack with some other stuff on his back.

Personality:
After a few... incidents... *glances around shiftily* at the Inn, I realized that Lir is absolutely nothing like his profile advertises. He's a sensitive, stubborn guy who likes to think that he's a head above the rest. Lirond's frank personality has earned him a few friends around the Inn. Also, girls don't tend to make him nervous as much anymore. He's even gotten close to a few. *coughOsacough* However, he's also managed to insult four girls so far in his time at the Inn. *sigh* He's nothing like I planned... but he's still a good guy.

Lirond doesn't get stolen from often. However, if it were just an ordinary object that was stolen, he'd probably have set up a trap, and let it go after a few weeks. If it was money, he's got a few coins dispersed in all of his stashes that have been spelled to be traceable by a corresponding device. However, most of his possessions, valuable or otherwise, are carried in a locked chest that's spelled to burn anyone who touches it, unless he touches it at the same time. He usually thinks things through; thus the elaborate plots. He can read and speak pretty much every tongue in Corus, minus Scanra, and Tusaine. His criminalistic talents/methods are as follows. Shoplifting: he scouts it out, usually under a quick disguise, then comes back later, uses a small knife to create a distraction(shops with hangings are nice), then just slips whatever caught his fancy earlier into his sleeve/pocket. Cutpurse, he has an eye for a classy victim; he jostles them in the crowd, and their jewelry (unless it happens to be spelled), sticks to his clothes, which are usually loose, to hide the jewelry. If he can't find any good jewelry, he just cuts their pockets. Assassin: as an assassin, he's about as good as the next guy, but he does know his poisons. He's alright at getting the tools to the actual assassin, but bad at doing the job himself. He makes an absolutely horrible mole. If he has a fairly competent partner/assistant, or it he's working on his own, his ears stand a chance at life. No, really, they do.

Strengths:
Very clever, can charm his way into/out of a lot of tight spots, making him a good addition to the Rogue (if he gets in). He also has an eye for a good (ie. rich) person/house. He's good with a knife, and can use a crossbow, but he prefers a shakra for long range, and a dirk in one hand, dagger in the other, for melee.

Weaknesses:
He's an absolutely horrible shot with the longbow. Also, while he can use darts in a pinch(ok shot), he's quite a klutz with them; in the case of poisoned darts, he's more likely to poison himself than the target. Sometimes, he can be extremely clumsy, especially in the face of beauty (but I realize that there are probably many 'stunning, raven haired, beauties' in the RP, and he won't go weak-kneed at the sight of them, he'll most likely just drop something and walk away)

History:
When he was six, his parents had a baby girl. Her name was Lia; Lirond never really knew her that well. He was always off with his friends. When she was three, there was a horrible famine. The following year, a Shang was traveling through, and she left with him. As food was still somewhat scarce, the tribe knew she would be better off with them. Thus, Lirond grew up without any siblings, for most of his life. Since his father was the tribe's merchant(went to the cities selling all of their merchandise), he had a stay in Port Legann at the age of thirteen, and learned there the art of thievery from a gang of street boys. Upon returning to his tribe, he was caught stealing once or twice, and severely whipped, each time more severely than the last. (Thank you for the pointer, yes, I think their policies about stealing would be only slightly less harsh than the Rogue's) Finally, after a year of getting caught, he gave up stealing from his tribe, and instead would sneak out, stealing from caravans, tribes, or whatever travelers might be nearby at the time. After a few years of this, he was caught by another tribe redhanded, stealing a gem that was very important to him. The penalty would've been having his hand cut off, but he managed to escape. The guard who caught him reported that he looked like a boy that he knew was from the tribe who was just south of them. They sent a small party over to identify the thief, but fortunately, Lirond managed to be conveniently out that day. After this incident, though, most of the tribe suspected him; most of those who didn't, knew already. Lirond only spent one more year among his tribe; he couldn't risk hurting his clan's reputation, just because he was a black sheep. Thus, he went off to find his true path in life, though he was certain that he was meant to be a thief. He spent about six years on the road, honing his skills. Once, after a rather close brush with the law, he decided to try 'the straight road,' but gave that up rather quickly. Now, he's on his way to Corus, after hearing about the Rogue through rumor.

What is your character most ashamed of?
His awful habit of holding grudges against people. He never forgets anything done to him, good or bad. Often, he will think about someone based on something they did to him, then be extremely remorseful, but his mind won't let it go. Also, he's been in Corus, searching for the Inn for two months now, and he's guilty that he almost never even thinks about trying to see The Voice (Jonathan). (Not that he actually could, even if he tried, but he told his uncle that on his journey, he would try to keep his history in mind)

What makes your character unique?
He has a strange habit of coming up with riddles. It's one of his hobbies, but it also gets annoying sometimes; he has another habit of randomly asking his friends his riddles, and insisting that they at least try it. He mostly does this when he's drunk. Also, there's the fact that he loves turtles; he has a tattoo of one (It's about as big as a lima bean) on his heart. He has a common painted turtle; usually no one really knows this, since it's not ever with him, and, unlike Parisa, leaves no trace on his clothes.

Why is your character coming to the Inn?
He wants to join the Rogue. Looking back on his life, he's realized that the only times in his life when he's been fully content, were the times when he was living as a criminal. Thus, he feels that he belongs with the Rogue.

Miscellaneous:

Hobbies: He likes to carve, especially faces. He will see a face in his dream, file it away to a memory, and eventually carve it. Also, I think I mentioned the riddle thing. *grins impishly* (it's something my friend does... it seems like something Lirond would do)

He does have a kitten, but it doesn't follow him everywhere, in fact, it has no special abilities whatsoever. The only mark is several scratches per day, somewhere on his person, as well as the fact that whenever he wants to look nice, she (Parisa) shreds one of his sleeves, and one of his cuffs. This is apt to drive him insane. He also has the baby turtle he saved from a raccoon. Its name is Naajy (Arabic for safe), because he always told the turtle he was safe now. He keeps it in a crate during the day, but whenever he's home, he lets it out, and it follows him around.
Well, this is Lir. Looks like a nice guy, huh? *wink*
