When I tell people about my hobby, most just laugh and think I am joking. When they come to my house though, they realize that this is no joke. I started collecting beer cans when I was around 8 years old. I was watching a Philadelphia TV station and they did a story about a guy with a huge beer can collection. I was hooked immediately. I was like "wow thats different" and decided to start my own collection. To get started I rode my bike all over town looking for beer cans. That first day, I found a Pabst, Olde English 500, and a Miller at the local High School. I brought those cans home, washed them, and displayed them in my room like trophies. From that day on, I have been collecting beer cans and loving it. I must admit, my father helped me build my early collection. We would go to the beer store once or twice a month in search of new cans for my collection. A running joke in our family is the time my dad bought a case of Robin Hood Cream Ale. It was brewed by Iron City and from what my father tells me, it was the worst tasting beer ever. Now I am old enough to drink my own beer and Iron City is one of my staples. As a matter of fact, Olde Frothingslosh, which is made by Iron City is my favorite beer/beer can. |
