La Bamba, by Chicano band, Los Lobos, was featured in the movie of the same name released in 1987.
The movie depicts the rags to riches story of Ritchie Valens, rock & roll singer who died with Buddy Holly and Little Richard in an air crash at age 17. This crash is mentioned by Don Mclean in American Pie as the day the music died.
