ANNOUNCEMENTS
VJJA Day at the General Assembly Feb 4th There is strength in numbers and we need you! Want to make VaLORS a reality? Interested in having POs relieved from the responsibility of doing court advisements? Plan to be present on February 4th For more information on this event, click HERE
VaLORS Letter Writing Campaign Whether a VJJA member or not, your participation in this campaign is needed. There is strength in numbers, so we need every Probation/Parole/Intake Officer or other DJJ employee to write a letter, send an e-mail and call his/her Senator and Delegate. It is particularly important that we contact each member of the Senate Finance Committee before they meet on February 4th, so we need to act fast! For suggested wording & downloadable letters, click HERE
VJJA Will Try VaLORS Again Article prepared by Committee Chair Teri Larsen for The Advocate January 2004 To read article in PDF format, click HERE
Citizen Legislator Award VJJA Legislative Committee Chair, Teri Larsen, of the 15th District Court Service Unit, received the “Citizen Legislator Award” for her work on HB 2012. To read more about this honor, click HERE
Legislative Committee Compiles E-mail List Wow ... VJJA members respond quickly! We asked, "Who would like to sign up to receive legislative updates via e-mail? In less than a week over 100 members provided their home e-mail addresses and said, "Sign me up!" That's a great start, but we need to reach even more folks. DJJ employs nearly 700 POs through 1st line supervisors and we need to reach them all! So, spread the word ..... If you know others who want to be part of our mailings on this issue, please have them e-mail their home e-mail addresses to: vjjasecretary@earthlink.net. (VJJA membership is not necessary to be added to the mailing list. As VaLORS and other bills impact every CSU employee in the state, all employees are welcome to receive legislative updates and participate in our efforts)
