COMMUNICATIONS TRANSMITTER
AWA ATS-1

The
AWA ATS-1 Communications Transmitter (type 1J66400) is a servo-tuned transmitter designed to operate in the HF frequency band 1.6Mhz to 30Mhz.
It is capable of producing and output of 1kW PEP (Continuous Duty).

It may be operated in any of the following transmission modes; A1A, A3E, R3E, H3E, & J3E.
There are 9 Channels, some having been modified to 18 channels, the frequencies of which are programmed by means of plug-in cards carrying a diode matrix.

The transmitter is force air cooled, since the output stages use ceramic tetrodes, which generate a lot of heat. It uses a single 4CX350B as a Driver tube, and three 4CX350B’s in the Power Amplifier.

The input to the Transmitter is by DC Keying, or Audio Frequency (350 Hz to 2700 Hz) signal.
This is applied to the Exciter unit, which generates the transmission mode and frequency, which have been programmed in the 9 plug in printed circuit boards.
