| Onyx was very small when the siblings just younger than him died and not much bigger when his parents died, so the only parents he's ever known were Saphire and Duncan, his two oldest siblings in a line of 12 of which he was #9. Being born deaf and mute, he had no way of communicating with anyone until he was almost 8 years old, and it was at that time that Saph spent a lot of money to have a mage come and teach the whole family how to mind send and sign so there was communication there for him, it was appreciated by all but the troublesome Alexandrite, who resented it and refused to learn. When he was 9, he was saddened to find that Saphire was setting out on her own and became rather withdrawn even with Duncan there. It never went away, and when he was 15 he took off on his own initially to find Saphire, but it was soon changed. After 5 years of searching unsuccesfully for Saphire, he was recruited into an assasins guild. He all too willingly accepted, praying like hell that Saphire never found out for his worst nightmare was to ever dissapoint Saphire because she was the closest thing to a mother he could remember. His training took longer than most, 30 years for complete training. But at age 50, at the time of his "graduation" from training, he was known as one of the most deadly mortal assasins in known memory. As graduation gifts, he was given two things, a weapon and a horse. The weapon, a set of mystic brass knuckles that when activated 6" claws extended from each knuckle and an extra claw wraps down around his claw to make a 5th. A very dangerous and deadly weapon when used correctly, which he does with great skill. The horse, very unique and curious. He calls himself Benny and is unique because he not only can speak in most languages, but can use magic better than many mages. Over the following 45 years, he traveled around working as a farm hand on various farms and ranches during the day and doing his assasins work during the night. It was during this time period that he became known as "The Silent One", a name given for his ability to get in and out of a job making little or no sound at all. Even now, he counts his blessings for a gene that was activated at the guild that stopped his aging at 25 and made it so he couldn't die from natural causes. Although he can live forever, he can still be killed just as easy as any other man. Around the time he turned 95 he finally found out where Saphire was living and was on his way to visit her when he came up on trouble in a bar. After a few moments of watching he recognized the one being attacked as his brother Garnet. Without a second thought he jumped in and the attackers were soon dispensed with. After a few drinks following the ordeal, he invited Garnet along to go see Saphire since there weren't many of them left. Once there he settled into his routine once more, helping out on the ranch by day and doing his job as an assasin by night, being carefull to keep each life seperate and the one safely concealed from Saphire. Early in the visit, a young lad came to the ranch who could not speak, read or write. Onyx decided to teach him sign language while Garnet and their great neice Michaela taught him the rest. It was something that made him happy, and it showed. A few months later, Saphire's husband Corwin discovered Onyx had never dated a woman and hooked him up on a blind date with a friend of his named Sara-Jo Marith. They hit it off real well and by the end of the date were hopelessly in love with one another. It wasn't long after that he and Sara were jumped by bandits while riding. Onyx sent Sara back to Corwin's on Benny while he took on the bandits on his own. By the time Sara returned with Corwin, Onyx was being drug behind a horse but most of the bandits were down. Onyx "technically" didn't survive the ordeal, but Corwin brought him back with an added perk. He now has the ability to hear and speak when he wants to and click it off at will like a light switch. He only uses the hearing and speech when around his now fiancee Sara, who has discovered is also an assaasin known as "White Crane" an assasin who is hunted by other assasins. He uses the new info to keep her safe, but fears it may eventually mean his own death in doing so. After the organization he works for tried to eliminate him, he staged a takeover and now is in charge of the assasins organization. At the same time, something has happened that could jeopardize his lie with Sara. While helping a friend of his sister's in earth realm, a nemesis of the lady took advantage of him being there and cast a series of spells on him and Cher in an attempt to ruin Cher's life, he was an innocent pawn. Those spells included uncontroled lust, decreased moral judgement, stamina and extreme fertility. So even tho he had no control over it, and it wasn't his fault he still has two children with another woman, and he fears how Sara will take it all. Those two children's names are Frank Ramas and William Alexander Capelli-Jade Onyx has suffered the loss of Sara Jo and the quads she was carrying in great stride, after afew years of singlehood he met a young woman named Ameythest and quickly fell in love with her, so much more than he did with Sara Jo. He remains deaf mute but is concidering changing that againg soon. |
