I've decided to sumit photographs from the past because it seems to fit the nostalgic mood we're all in. Some of us were together in 1951.....fifty-one years ago! If you look closely at Miss Daughtry's first grade class at Rosemary School, you'll see Bengie Gantt (Stallings), Nancy Ferguson and me in the top row; and Morris Johnson, Robert Ellis, and Angel Coston (Melvin) in the middle row (Michael Coburn's on that row, too). Certainly, we've all gone our separate ways. I always knew that I wanted to be a nurse, and now, as Vice President of Nursing at a small hospital on the Chesapeake Bay, I'm responsible for 150 of them!
Luckily, reunions give us an opportunity to reconnect with our roots and remember the people and places that led us to where we are today. (Making a bazilion banana splits at Savages will convince you that you want to do something else, but it has been very meaningful to me to walk by the store front on Roanoke Avenue again.)
Our class has done a really good job of staying in touch. Here are photos from the 10th, 20th, and 30th reunions to prove it! I hope that EVERY class member will attend the 40th.
Morriss asked for our greatest achievement, and I hope that, by the time you read this, I'll be a grandmother for the very first time! I'm really looking forward to that phase of my life, and...be warned...I will be armed with pictures at the reunion!
