| I guess I had fallen asleep in the tree, because I woke up a bit later. But I woke up in a bed, a soft comfy bed. At first I didn't notice, but when I did realize, I shot out of the bed. As soon as I stood up, I fell to the floor. Pain shot up my right leg. I looked up to find something to help use for support so I could up. Suddenly I saw a pair of soft glowing eyes staring at me. They looked familar and comforting, so I called to the person for some help. A young male red-point cat walked over to me. It was him. I couldn't believe it. He was a boy that I loved. We used to play and go everywhere together. He just looked upon me with eyes of excitement. "Alexa, I thought you were dead. I giving up hope that you still alive." "Diego, where am I? Where's Sachi?" He just looked away. But, I could see the pain in his eyes. "Just after you had fallen asleep, the androids attacked the tree where you were hiding. My friends tried to protect you and Sachi, but the androids took Sachi." "What!? But, I was supposed to protect her. They tried to save her?" "Yes. When they couldn't save, they you back here. This is a refugee camp, well city. As you fell out of the tree, a branch from another tree dug into your leg, hence why your leg is hurting. The doctor said that your leg will hurt for a couple of weeks, but it will be fine. For right now, you need to rest today." Since I was supposed to rest, I got back on the bed. It was wierd knowing that my sister wasn't around. I just hoped that she was ok. I was looking around the room, when a knock came from the door. The mouse and the squirrel quietly opened the door. "Diego, is the...oh, hello" The mouse had come to see if I was ok. "Alexa, this is Kate and Skye. Kate, Skye, this is Alexa" "Hey. Thanks for helping me." Kate walked up to me with tears in her eyes. Her eyes were like sapphire with tears of crystal. I knew she felt awful about being able to save Sachi. "I wish I could have your sister. I could have..." "Don't beat yourself up. We'll get her back." Skye wasn't even talking, plus he was acting odd. Diego got and walked with him. I could hear them talking but it was just mumbles to me. Skye's actions were very confusig to me. I didn't know how to act towards him. "Skye's beating himself up, even more than me. A couple weeks ago, we were searching the woods for any survivors when we were attacked. There were too many androids, we barely got away. I was beat up pretty badly. He was beating himself up for that. Now, we lost your sister. It must be hard. That's why he was not talking." "Ouch. But, I'm not mad. I know my sister can take care of herself. That's why I'm not that afraid. I taught her how to fight and she is almost even with me." "Wow. How old is she? She seems pretty young." "She is seven. Sachi is very talented and mature for her age. My best friend Zev protected us. We've been on our own since Sachi was a year old." "Woh. She is so young. She is amazing." "I know. Hey. Are you three the only ones in your little group?" "Nah. The other two, Jada and Locke, are off..." Right before Kate could finished, Jada and Locke burst in. Jada was a green lizard with mid-neck length, blond hair. Locke was a raccoon with black hair that was spiked forward. "Hey, look Locke. The new girl's up. How ya doing? And what's your name?" "I'm guessing that you're Locke and Jada. I'm Alexa. Kate was just about to tell me what you guys were supposedly doing." "So Alexa, wanna practice fighting?" Jada seemed like she wanted to see how strong I was. Of course, I forgot about being injured and accepted the invitation. |
