Some people say it was the disease rabis that got confused with vampirism. However, Im sure this is not the only answer just the one I know. So when someone has rabis they will be coughing up blood, I think this is usually when they are asleep so when they wake up in the morning they have blood around their mouth and they think oh shit Im a vamp, and other people say oh f*ck you'r a vampire stay away, you get the jist. Also, someone with rabis does become extreamly sensitive to sunlight, which then causes them to become pale.
