This record of my ancestors and my histories is dedicated to my great-grandchildren. It is hoped that this writing will assist my future generations in grasping the reality of time. By correlating the events listed with historical happenings, time can be shrunk to a measure that is easier to comprehend.

The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.
Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

Time is the most undefinable yet paradoxical of things; the past is gone, the future is not come, and the present becomes the past, even while we attempt to define it, and like the flash of the lightning, at once exists and expires.
Colton (1780-1832)

If you want the present to be different from the past, study the past
Spinoza (1632-1677)
