The Object of My Affection
Choice

The doctor said, “Yes, congratulations!”  You sit there
and wonder, half happy and half confused, of what
you will tell your husband.  He is still overseas.
He has been away for six months.  Now
you find out you are pregnant, for only two months.

As you travel to the clinic the following week, your
thoughts are on what’s inside of you.  The crying
starts.  You know you are on time for the appointment.
You cry out in your car, “I’m sorry, I have to do this!
He can’t find out!”  Then you hear from deep inside you,
“Please, no!  At least you have a choice.  Let me live!”
