Culture
activities
The main bearer of
the organized work in the field of culture in Doljevac and other settlements in
the municipality is the National Library in Doljevac. In the process of bringing
its activities into accord with the legal regulations, in 1995 it takes over,
from the Cultural Center, all the other kinds of cultural activities as well (organizing
of theatrical performances, exhibitions of fine arts, cultural-artistic and
entertaining manifestations and show programmes, amateur work with children and
pupils and others). Except the Library, some other institutions and
organizations are also active in the field of culture: Cultural and Educational
Association of the municipality, the elementary school "Vuk Karadzic",
Doljevac, pre-school center "Lane", local communities and Cultural
Centers located in the settlements of the municipality.
The National Library
has over 35.000 books and several thousand copies of different magazines and newspapers. It is situated in the intended - for object of the Cultural Center
which has a universal hall with 360 seats, the library area, multifunctional
spacious hall and other premises for other activities. The universal hall with
seats is equipped with a mobile apparatus for the showing of films, it is also
suitable for theatrical performances of the guest theatres from Nis, Leskovac,
Prokuplje and from other towns, as well. It is the place where exhibitions of
fine arts and other creative activities are held, amateur work with children and
youths, cultural and entertaining manifestations, concerts of folk, pop and
classical music...
Besides Doljevac,
there are similar halls in the villages of Orljane, Sainovac, Capljinac,
Klisura, Cecina and Sarlinac where smaller objects were reconstructed and adapted
to serve the purpose of cultural and entertaining activities.

Manifestations
The most important
manifestation is the traditional Meeting of the educators and cultural workers
who create for children. This manifestation has been held since 1994, it gathers
poets and proze writers, famous literary workers who create for children, from
all over the country. Besides the manifestational character of the Meeting which
is characterized by the meetings of writers and pupils from the schools on this
territory, with appropriate cultural-artistic programmes, that always create an unforgettable
experience for the pupils, the Meeting also has
literary-theoretical dimension and contents, when theoretical aspects and themes
from the children's literature are discussed.
The founder and
the organizer of the Meeting is the elementary school "Vuk Karadzic"
in Doljevac in cooperation with the Cultural and Educational Association and
the National Library.

The
monthly journal "Doljevacke Novine"

"Doljevacke Novine" is a significant contribution
to the cultural life in the municipality, started in 1995. Even though
the journal is primarily the informative newspaper of the Municipal
Assembly, which edits it with its articles about and from culture, it
also represents a direct connection of cultural contents and the
readers. |
"Koprijan" radio station
On air since the
end of 1997, with the contents of its programme, its form and the manner
of broadcasting, it announces its approaching to the "Doljevacke Novine"
journal. Radio Koprijan works at the frequency of 94.5 MHz,

Education
Elementary
schooling in the municipality is organized in one educational and pedagogical organization, the elementary school "Vuk Karadzic" in Doljevac, which
combines three more eight-years branch schools (in Belotinac, Malosiste and
Pukovac), and ten four-years branch schools in other settlements.
Its activity is
carried out in 15 schools, total area of more than 9800 square meters. The
educational and pedagogic work is carried out in 60 planed-out classrooms, 3915
square meters, six cabinets, four workshops, two gymnasiums and many other rooms
for other activities that are also carried out in the school.
The school is
attended by 1950 pupils in 89 educational divisions, the educational and
pedagogic work is carried out by 115 educators.

Pre-school
education is organized in the pre-school organization "Lane" with
groups in ten settlements on the territory of Doljevac. The work is organized on
the basis of a shortened programme with the pre-school aged children, before
they start at the elementary school. About 92 per cent of such population is
enrolled, that is about 200 attendants.

In Doljevac it has organized whole-day stay for the youngest children (about 30). The work is carried out by 18
employees, teachers and other workers.
