The Wheel of Corruption
The Corruption wheel is a very useful tool in and out of the courtroom. To use the wheel draw a line from one person to the next as information was exchanged. For example when the child and parent talked about the abuse a line should be drawn (and dated) from the child to the parent. If the C.P.S. case worker talked to the prosecutor than a line should be drawn fom the C.P.S. case worker to the prosecutor and the line should be dated (if possible to show the date the exchange of information occurred). Continue this process until all known exchanges of information are recorded.
The end result will show just how many times the child was interviewed and who all exchanged information with whom.
The dated lines will give the specific dates the exchanges took place. This incoped with other facts of the case can show who, what , when, why and how the case unfolded and the date that the accuation took place.
If there was a recantation, repete the process with another color of ink and this will show, in most cases, that the recantation is not as wide spread as the accuation itself.
If need be, add people on the wheel to include all persons involved in the case including , but not limited to, school nurses, examining doctors, school staff members, judges, and other attorneys. |
