Form Slump in Warriors New Season?

The New Zealand Warriors have learnt some lessons in the early stages of this years competition. Just because you finish one season as semi-finalists, doesn't necessarily mean you'll be in for an easy ride next season.

This year with the exception of Brett Webb the warriors have looked weary and directionless.

This form slump began when the Warriors took part in the Cougar World Sevens tournament. Originally they were touted as competition favourites when they named a strong line-up, but against all expectation the Warriors were ejected early.

The signs of trouble continued in the pre-season games, as the warriors lost all three preseason matches. The Panthers, Eels and the Dragons all earning convincing victories over the Warriors.

The latest evidence of this form slump is in the first two games of this years competition. The formerly beleaguered Brisbane Bronco's gave the Warriors there first official season loss, only to offer a Prequel of what was to come in the Warriors / Dragons rematch, which again resulted in a Warriors loss. Coach Daniel Anderson said the boys looked vacant and numb in the changing rooms at half time.

I have long been a fan of the Warriors, through both the old troubled times and the modern era which saw a revitalised club, so it goes without saying I'm in for the long haul, but I do hope that fortunes change this season so that the clubs positive momentum can continue for years to come.
