A Year to Remember

OR NOT!!!
You wake up this morning only to find out that you're hair won't cooperate, and you're already late for work.  So you're having a bad day; at least you know when all is said and done you can go back to bed that night and it'll all be over.  Unlike those in the great state of Colorado, this day kept reoccuring time and time again.

First off, there were the allogations against the U.S Air Force base located in Colorado and the gang-raping that took place.  By the looks of it, it seems the military left out that little tidbit of information, "Be all you can be, explore the world, go to college, and oh yeah, if you're a woman get raped, all in the U.S. military; join now".  Now there's a great hook line for the under-achieving young people out there.  Just what our fore-fathers had in mind when they founded this great country.

Then if that was not enough, months later the University of Colorado (Yes, the institution of higher-learning in this great state) was then accused of enticing male-athletes, mainly football players, to come and play for them by bringing these gentlemen to strip clubs and ultimately helping them score to presuade their decision in which school to play for.  This was just the surface of it for me, what I could not understand is then Joe Public goes on to discuss for weeks about how its so hard to understand why college guys would go for this, and how could this happen.  Unbe-frikkin-lievable!  No way, college guys, wanting to score with girls, I've never heard of such a thing.  I don't believe it, how could they?  Naked chicks?  Come on!

And last but not least to wrap up an outstanding year in the news for the state of Colorado, the ever infamous Kobe Byrant trial.  Yes, the on-going, will never end, makes the O.J. series look like a mini-marathon.  This trial goes in more circles than a Nascar degenerate's head while he's sitting on his couch that he just pulled in from the yard; trying to break last weeks previous record number of beers consumed before the first pit stop.  For heaven's sake, thanks to Kobe for now setting the price of regret at $4 Million with that "I'm sorry/I didn't mean it/I love you" diamond ring he gave his wife the day after this all went public.

Again, thanks to a great group of over achieving individuals that for 365 days, the 2003 calendar year, the rest of America had to endure the "mishaps" that kept occuring and reoccuring in the state of Colorado.  Whats the problem there?  Did the Banana Republic shut down?  Is it not enough anymore that your state has some of the best skiing in the world?  Is it not satisfying that you have some of the most tourist infested cities in America during the winter?  Or maybe you see how much California is in the news and now have some delusion that if you're not on the national scene the other 49 states will think you've left the Union.  What is Colorado's motivation here, to be in the news more often than the voting degenerates down in Florida? Or maybe have more Girls Gone Wild videos filmed there than in New Orleans and Myrtle Beach combined?  I can see it now, Girls Gone Wild, the snow-bunny edition!  Just what this country needs.

For the year of 2003, I say thank you to Colorado and showing up for role-call.  Don't worry though it's not all bad.  Just wait a month or two and I'm sure CA, FL, or NY will do something to make national headlines everywhere and once again push you back down to the rightful spot you so happily occupy.  And look on the bright side, you're still leading the United States in being the state just north of New Mexico, and we all know how important that is.  I'M OUT!
