April 7, 2004 Sleep has no scientific merit whatsoever -So I went to bed at about 3am last night (this morning. and after having a very long day) and I got up at 6:45am this morning. You’d think that because I only got 3.75 hrs. of sleep that I’d be tired when I got up, right? Well if sleep was a consistent science this may be true. But the contrary was the truth actually. Sleep is an inconsistent science and very un-exact at that. I actually woke up this morning with no problems at all, and so far (maybe with the help of a cappuccino) I feel fine, and I’ve been up for a couple hours now. The point is don’t let them (“them” refers to people that think they know what they’re talking about without any circumstantial evidence) tell you that you need 8 or so hours of sleep a night...yada...blah...yada... Sure you may need 8 or so hours, but that makes no difference on how you’ll feel in the morning. And isn’t that what we all really care about?! Unproven piece of mind is very valuable in my book. So in conclusion I’ve decided that sleep is an un-exact science, much in line with say love. It’s mostly a crapshoot; you never know what you’re going to get whether you sleep 10 hours or 2 in one given night. A risky enterprise indeed... |
