Vonra is a modern rock band from Orlando, Florida. Founded in 1992, they eventually rose to the top of the Orlando music scene by 1998. In 1999, they won two Orlando Music Awards for Best Pop/Rock Band and Live Act of the Year, positioning themselves to make a break for the big-time.
With the help of producer John Kurzweg (Creed), and Billy McGathy Promotions (3 Doors Down), Vonra's single "Pow" was broadcast on 19 radiostations across the U.S. and into Canada, including "98Roch" in Tampa, "FL and KLBJ" in Austin, TX.
VonRa also has a large royal following in Norway, becoming one of the top imports sold their capitol, Bergen.
VonRa was first formed by brothers Vaughan and David "Boo" Rhea. Vaughan sings leadvocals and plays rhythm guitar, Boo plays bass guitar and sings back-up vocals. In September 1997, Vonra released their first recording, a full-lenght independent cd, PANES.
At the PANES cd-release party, VonRa was joined by drummer David "Tin Man" Tinny. Tin Man has delivered the beats for VonRa ever since.
Currently VonRa is a 5-piece band with the addition of Paul Smith on lead guitar and back-up vocals, who played back-up guitar for 7 Mary 3 on their most recent tour and album. The current line-up of VonRa puts on an electrifying show that is unmatched by any other local act.
VonRa has been fortunate enough to open for some major national acts as they swing trouhg Central Florida. Most recentley, they opened for 3rd Eye Blind at Hard Rock Live in Orlando. They have also opened for Sister Hazel, Creed, Bare Naked Ladies, Everlast, My Friend Steve, Virgin Merlot, Bad Comgany, The Little River Band, Jeff Healey Band, Hall & Oates and Cowboy Mouth.
