On Thursday March 20th, the first day of Spring, Jennifer and I drove up to Third Crossing in Coyote Canyon with our backpacking gear and a plan to hike three miles to Sheep Canyon.
We were told not to rely on the water up there so we packed in a litttle more than two gallons.  Water weighs "a pint a pound the world round" so sixteen plus pounds of my forty-five pound pack was water.  Jennifer carried in a lot of the other gear which weighed in at thirty-five pounds!  About ten minutes into our trip, going up the "bypass road" my legs started to feel like I had hiked a couple of miles up a mountain.  Uh-oh.
