A few hours later we were there!

The first thing we did was set up the tent.  We have a three-person, three-season backpacking tent made by Sierra Designs called the Orion.  It's lightweight, has good ventilation and is built to withstand strong winds.  We put down a "footprint" and then hammered titanium pegs into the ground with a rock.  Putting the pegs at an angle helps keep them in place.  We'll put a "fly" on top of the tent to protect it from the sun.  It would also keep us dry if we were expecting rain.  We'll use "guy-wires" to keep everything secure.
Since it was the hottest part of the day and since we were awfully tired, we found a nearby Cottonwood tree to sit under.  When was the last time you just sat under a tree?
