Our feet were hurting, our toes were sore and the cold creek water was just what the doctor ordered.  Seriously, after twenty minutes of soaking they felt fine!

On the north side of the canyon was a lone palm on a hillside covered with blooming brittlebush.  Most likely a coyote ate fruit from the nearby grove and deposited a seed on this hillside decades ago!  The seemingly most insignificant acts can have tremendous and sometimes beautiful results!
We were tired and went to sleep very early.  There's nothing quite like having the entire planet under you as you sleep.  We use self-inflating sleep pads that are a little heavy but very comfortable.  Jennifer dreamed that she was hugging the earth.

The next morning we rose with the sun and went a little ways upstream to get some water.  First we pump the water through a ceramic filter that will get out any bacteria which are relatively large in the microscopic world.
