Cecil Levan Honnas was born in a tent in a mining camp
in the Swisshelm Mountains near Douglas, Arizona on June 2, 1907.
As a young boy he moved to Bisbee, then to Land Station near
St. David where his family aquired land and cattle. During these
years he became a very adept cowboy. In 1916 his mother and
stepfather moved to Sonoita, Az.
Cecil married Dottie Leona Moore in 1930, and soon after
bought their first homestead.
Cecil had operated the Sonoita Garage, drilled water wells,
drilled for a placer mining company in Sinaloa, Mexico, worked
for the State Highway Dept, and more. During these years,
he and Lottie would buy more homesteads as finances would allow.
Cecil and Lottie lived and ranched in Sonoita, where they
raised their sons, Raymond and Donald.
Cecil & Lottie were active in their local church, they donated
land and the building to the Sonoita Bible Church.
