The Vince Ryan Memorial Scholarship Hockey Tournament injects over 3 million dollars into the local economy each year. Although we are very pleased to achieve this, our number 1 goal is in providing the local graduating high school students with scholarships to help them on their way. We firmly believe in investing in the future , and we believe our children are the future.
As the tournament has grown over the years, so has the scholarship fund. In 1990,2 students were provided with scholarships, this number has grown steadily, and in 2002, 12 students received scholarships from the fund. After the enormous costs of running a tournament of this magnitude are paid (the largest being ice rental), all proceeds are given to the scholarship fund. The school decides who receives the scholarships. The more sponsors we have, the more can be donated to the scholarship fund, as money from sponsors help offset the cost of running the tournament. We would like to thank all the past and present sponsors, all the teams and volunteers who participated in this tournament to make the scholarship fund possible.
