The Bed: We will learn how to make a simple bed, using colors, simple textures, and shapes (nodes). How to position, stretch, rotate, group, save, and make WRL.
Open up your Spazz3d or Anfy3d program, turn off the moving hand, and go to your new page. The black box you see is your working area. The buttons along the top and or sides are your working buttons. The green box and arrows (Spazz3d only) are your center screen and are set at 0x, 0y, and 0z (eye level in Cybertown)
Turn on your working grid by clicking working grid button.
Make a group, click on the group button, then click on your working area. Or Click Create at top of screen, then click Create Group, Anchor or Billboard out of drop down menu.
Click on tree button, bringing up your tree box.
Tree Box
Right click Group1 in your Tree Box, choose properties from the pull down menu.
Click over to Trans (translate), then click the Zero All button. (Note: from now on, this will just be refered to as Zeroing Translation.)Make a cube node (definition: node is a object or piece of one) click on the cube button, then click on your working area.
Go to your Tree Box, then properties, and click over to Trans tab(translate), set X0, Y0 and Z-1.(Note: a bed (or car) in CT (Cybertown), can be apx. 4.5 meters long by 3 meters wide. Any thing above 3 meters by 3 meters by 3 meters (3x3x3) will have to be approved for Large Item Store.)
In tree box, drag and drop you Box1 into Group1. Making sure box is highlighted, click open it's properties box. Click on Box tab (to the right of Trans tab), then set the box to 4 depth(Z), 3 width(X) and .5 height(y).
Clicking over to Material tab, you can now choose a color for the bed, if you do not see the color you desire, click Edit Materials, Create New Material, then click the edit boxes. A new color box will pop up allowing choice of color scheme, click ok on both boxes.
To add a texture (Note: a texture is a jpg that is used to "paint" the jpg on the node), click over to the Texture tab, click the open file button, and choose a jpg from your hard drive. Note: textures in CT will have to be jpgs (for spazz) and UNDER 20kb and must be .jpg NOT .JPG(for CT).
Here take a moment and look at the cube from different angles. Click the view buttons and see where it fits on grid. In CT all items must be 0X and 0Z, EXCEPT nothing can stick more than 1 meter into the Z plane that is why the cube is set at -1Z. (We will talk about the floor level Y later)
For the legs you may use simple cylinders, or become more elaborate by putting spheres on the cylinders. (note if placing spheres on cylinders place both at same position X and Z)
Click the cylinder button next to cube button then click screen. In tree box drag and drop cylinder into Group1. Open cylinder properties, in Cylinder tab set Height to 2.5 and Radius to .2. In translate tab, -1.45X, .75Y, 1Z.
Using your view buttons and simple math, place the other 3 cylinders, making the four posters of the bed. Place them in Group1, you may also want to name the posts, in properties, click general tab and rename.
To make pillows, put a sphere on working grid, bring up properties box, click scale tab. By draggin mouse over working grid, the sphere will change sizes. To make it squishy like a pillow unclick uniform size, then drag mouse to make it look flatter. Place it on the bed, by tabing over to Trans and using draging mouse over to bed. Note the positioning from all angles.
Look at the tree, is it all in one group? Is your pillows on your bed? Turn the bed around and look at it from all angles. Fix any errors.
Now to turn the bed so that it will face another direction, in your tree highlight Group1, bring up properties. Click rotate button or Rotation tab.
Rotate it 90 degrees Y axis. This will cause your bed to be off center. To position bed for acceptance in CT, highlight group, tab over to translate, then drag mouse so that the bed is setting on -1.75Y and is centered at X and Z. If you need exact co-ords, click on view, then grid, then gird options, change grid spacing to .25. REMEMBER -1.75 is the FLOOR in Ct and all items MUST rest on floor and not go below it.
To save your file go to file save and type in a file name.
To make a WRL (needed for CT upload) go to file, Export Vrml 97 World and click.
YOU MUST save WRL in same file as your texture for that object, but not necessarly your spazz files.
Now you are all set make a print screen of your item (you may wanna turn off working grid) and paste it to you paint program. All thumbnails MUST be under 20kb and have a picture of your object. You may place such info as creator name, item name, price, ect, but it is not necessary, on your thumbnail.
To upload go to the MALL in CT. Under the jump gate is the upload button, please read all info there, before uploading.
