Using Gifs
Why use a gif instead of a jpg? A gif can have a transparent background. Instead of trying to "cut out" a dragon, tree or whatever, you can use a transparent gif and just see the dragon. You may also use animated gifs (please note this is a bit more complicated) to make items that move like rain, stars, snow, fireworks, water, moving pictures etc.
I HIGHLY recomend you do the texture lesson first before attempting this. Put a cube on your screen, bring up properties box then texture tab.
Click open folder.
The Open file window will come up and in the FILE NAME box type in *.gif this will show all the gifs in your file. Do not worry about the files of type saying JPEG. You will NOT see the gif showing on your spazz screen, you will not be able to view it until you look at in the Blaxxun browser.
Now for the tricky part, animated gifs the ones that move. Follow the directions above for placing your gif on your box. In order for it to move you have to change the VRML code. This is done either in VRMLPAD or in Chisel, or any software that will let you edit the VRML2 code. Check out links page for where to get online Chisel or free trial VRMLPAD.
ImageTexture
you need to retype it to MovieTexture
as shown above. This will make your gif move once you have saved
it. Also pay CLOSE attention
to the caps, if not properly typed it will
not work.
Find by doing a search (usually
under edit) for your gif. It will be shown similar to example
above. It will be listed as a
