And then theres the story of Daniel and the Lion's Den. You'll recall that the king of Persia issued a law that no one should worship any God but himself for 30 days. But Daniel knew that to obey this law would mean that he had to violate God's first commandment. Every sinner is punished according to what they've done. Those with few sins are destroyed quickly, while those who are guilty of horrific evil against humanity suffer longer. And Satan, the instigator of all sin, is forced to suffer the most. For God the punishment of the wicked is a painful act, but it is something that His justice demands.
