It is most often quoted reason by the lazyboys and those with poor will for not doing things. For isn't everyone aware of "To err is human" conveniently modified as "To forget is human". There is no doubt about the unanimous consent on the second part "To forgive is divine". It is but human not to forget treachery, to forget evil, to forget bad deeds by others. But let us be generous enough not to do so.Even in Lord' prayer, the same is referred in a conditional way " forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us". So let us not forget others, for the kind help lent, whether timely or not, soothing words said in times of grief or not, affectionate support offered, when we needed it or not.
"Let all bitterness and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (Ephesians 4:31,32)
There is a funny thing about a book on history. As time goes on, the events get compressed. Let me explain. Say the scenario is: the first page of the book starts with ancient civilizations dating back to few millennia. And in page 197 the story of Christ is given. In page 450, the deeds of Gandhi are given. May be my profile will appear in page 1231. So you observe, that pre Christ history is covered in about 196 pages and post Christ up to Gandhi in 252 pages. After may be 50 years, may be Christ will appear on page 34, Gandhi in page 38 and I in 46. How wonderful, I am coming closer to Christ in a history book!!! But I do not want to wait for ages, to come closer to Him. It is said that we load our memory only to about tenth of the capacity. Am I not glad that I can try to load more, may be three-tenths or four-tenths and remember all the good I have received from everyone and the world. The more I remember of these good deeds, I am sure, my outlook will change. I will be filled with more of piety and compassion and such other good qualities. Like the saying "old order changeth yielding place to new". ".. whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (Philippians 4:8)
