Power of prayer

I am not of the privileged class
Like the cleric serving the lord
Or like the fortunate lay persons
Who serve in the vestry.

I am from the countless working class
Destined to slog day in and day out
To feed and to clothe,
to care and to support
The family dearest to
and dependant on me.

But just before I hit the bed,
A “high five” before the sunrise
I pray to my Lord with a request
To keep me alive through the night.
So that I can do what I had to.

Surprisingly on one of the nights
I had a deep dream, while asleep
The Lord appeared and said
“in spite of the endless work ev’ryday
extending like the galaxy on the horizon
You remember to pray without fail
I am pleased in you”

I woke up with a sheepish grin
Regurgitating what my Lord said
My wife asked me the cause of my grin
How she is to understand what I gotta say.
I don’t have time?

Are you ever worried, in spite of all efforts
That you don’t have time to pray?
I found an easy and simple way
To benefit not only me but my family even.

You know well that when a tornado strikes
The whole house is shaken to the roots
Leaving a quite different result each time
Costly to handle and totally unexpected by you

But when a gentle wind strikes the house
The house looks fresh and as if renewed
Freedom  from all toxic and smelly stuff
Leaving a cool and salubrious surrounding

I aint worried  that I don’t have time to pray
For I let the gospel CD reverberate through
So wherever we are we can still hear them,
Seemingly we and our house as penitents
are sprinkled everyday with  his words.

I have stopped being a private person
Leaving the  24x7 walkman earplugs behind
What more can I ask for, or
How can I say that I don’t have time.

I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.(1 Kings 9:3)
